Samrala accident: three accused held

The police have arrested three accused,allegedly involved in a car accident which resulted in the death of three city residents near Samrala on Saturday evening.

The police have arrested three accused,allegedly involved in a car accident which resulted in the death of three city residents near Samrala on Saturday evening. Two persons had also sustained injuries in the mishap. They have been identified as Ravinder Singh,Gurpreet Singh and Jaspreet Singh,all residents of Dugri village. A case under Sections 302,307 427 and 34 IPC has been registered against the accused.

The deceased Harwinder Singh(32),wife Jasveer Kaur (29) and son Pawanjot Singh (11) of Dugri village were killed in an car accident while the other occupants,Sherdal Singh and Lovepreet Singh,had sustained injuries.

Khanna SSP Arunpal Singh said victim Harvinder Singh’s father-in-law Jagpal Singh told the police that the victims had gone to Samrala to attend a wedding where they met the accused.

Jagpal Singh said: “The three accused had an altercation with my son-in-law at the marriage palace but it was solved after the intervention of some relatives. As the car reached Ghulal village,the accused hit the car with their vehicle.” The SSP said: “The car involved in the accident has been recovered by the police.”
