‘Robber’ dies of bullet injuries,cops call it suicide

A man,who had allegedly managed to flee on Wednesday when he came to rob a jewellery showroom,was found dead on Thursday.

Police have called it a suicide,but bullets injuries in Vinay’s chest,who was in his mid-twenties,has raised questions. On Wednesday,three men had entered a jewellery shop on Rahon road and asked for cash and jewellery at gun point. The jeweller,however,caught hold of the pistol and one of the robbers,Shivam,was arrested on Wednesday by the Jodhewal Basti police,while the other two managed to escape on their motorbike.

SHO Balwinder Singh said that Shivam was asked to identify the body and he confirmed that Vinay was a part of their gang.

Police said that Shivam confessed of trying to rob a hosiery manufacturer,a few days back,but the trio failed. They had gone with a knife,but could not loot anything as Manmohan Singh,owner of the unit,overpowered them,following which they fled.

However,on Wednesday they had gone with a desi pistol and the police said that the bullet injury was of the desi pistol. Police added that they were investigating the matter.
