In this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Ludhiana range (file) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Monday nabbed Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Surjit Singh and Head Constable Jagpreet Singh, both posted at Dehlon police station of Ludhiana, for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.
A spokesperson of the VB said that the two police officials were arrested on the complaint of Atma Singh, a resident of Sayian Kalan, Ludhiana.
Giving details, he said that the complainant had approached the VB unit Ludhiana range and alleged that the two police officials have demanded Rs 20,000 to release the motorcycle of his son, who was arrested in an NDPS case, but the deal has been struck at Rs 10,000.
The spokesperson informed that a VB team from Ludhiana range laid a trap and the accused police officials were arrested on the spot while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Ludhiana range. Further investigation in this case is under progress.
