PSPCL gives nod to load extension for industrial units

All the pending cases of load extension of upto 20KW will now be okayed by the Punjab state Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) which were long pending. This has come as yet another poll sop for the industrialists who have their units in mixed land use areas out of which a majority of them are in Atam Nagar constituency,which happens to be Cabinet Minister Hira Singh Gabria’s area.

In a specially convened meeting in the office of United Cycles Parts and Manufacturers Association (UCPMA),on Thursday,Gabria made this announcement and termed it as his big achievement for the voters of his area.

More than 500 such files were lying pending and PSPCL relaxed its norms to clear these files. Earlier as per the PSPCL ruling,for extension in load,new transformers will have to be placed in the area as augmentation within the old transformer was not possible. However now PSPCL has allowed augmentation because getting new transformers in the area was a big problem.

It took more than 18 months for PSPCL to relax norm and the relaxation before the elections has come as a big relief for Gabria who is to contest from Atam Nagar. K M Sharma,Chief Engineer PSPCL however said,Most of the pending files are from Jammu colony and they were held up due to technical norms of PSPCL. Now they have been cleared and like voluntary disclosure scheme (VDS),the units can get their loads enhanced.
