Punjab Agricultural University Teachers Association (PAUTA) has urged the Punjab government to implement new pay scales for teachers in the PAU as approved and notified by ICAR on April 13.

In a press release issued here,PAUTA said that the UGC/ICAR had already written to the state governments to implement the new pay scales in a time-bound manner.

The general secretary,Dr Kamladeep Sangha said that ICAR had also clarified that pay of the scientists in existing pay scale Rs 12,000-18,300 and above may be provisionally fixed by multiplying existing basic pay as January 1,2006.

Moreover, scientists working in CIPHET and Grain Storage Institute (both ICAR institutions situated on PAU campus) have already got the benefit of new scales and arrears. In light of the permission granted to Punjab government by the Election Commission to implement the recommendation of the fifth pay commission,PAUTA has urged the state government to implement the new pay scales.

“It is pertinent to mention that the ICAR notification was issued after the election code of conduct had come into force,” added Dr Sangha .
