Shri Radha Madhav Society for Vaishnav Heritage,a non-government organisation, has decided to woo the city schools for persuading students to donate their old books for the needy children. It was about a month ago when this NGO established a book bank for the needy children of the society.
Kapil Gupta, one of the trustees of the NGO,said,There are many students in our society who are deprived of the right to education due to economic problems. So we created a book bank from where needy children can get the books and continue their studies. The books are received by the parents of wards whose children have passed the exam and taken admission in next class. These books are then distributed to needy and poor students so that they can continue their study.
In a span of one month, the book bank has received four sets of old books from students.
Vikas Bansal, another trustee, said,Presently the schools are closed due to summer vacations. To mobilise more and more students for this cause,we will woo the city schools through their heads once the vacations are over. The principals throught their announcements in the morning assemblie will prod the the children to donate the old books to the book bank created by us. He further said that simultaneously, the trustees of the NGO will also visit government schools to know the number of needy students. And as soon as we will get some sets of old books from students,we will distribute them to the needy students of government schools or private schools, said Kapil Gupta.
He said that anyone willing to donate books to the book bank could contact this NGO on phone number 0161-2405151 or at New Kundan Puri, near Leeza Radios,Ludhiana.
