Miscreants barge into house,thrash family; ‘loot’ cash,gold

Carrying sharp-edged weapons and sticks,more than 12 miscreants barged into a house in broad daylight in Islam Gunj area on Monday,thrashed the people living there and vandalised the house.

Carrying sharp-edged weapons and sticks,more than 12 miscreants barged into a house in broad daylight in Islam Gunj area on Monday,thrashed the people living there and vandalised the house. They also allegedly stole Rs 1.50 lakh in cash and 25 gm gold jewellery,and issued threats before running away.

On a complaint filed at the police division number 2,the police registered a case under sections 452/379/447/448/148 and 149 of the IPC against Gurtej Singh alias Teja,president of Gurdwara Bhath Singh Sabha Sahib,Islam Gunj,and his unidentified accomplices.

According to Kishan,one of the victims,his father had taken the house on rent from Gyan Singh around 50 years ago. Gyan Singh went abroad after some time. Now Kishan and his three brothers live in different portions of the house.

Kishan alleged that Gurtej Singh Teja wanted to occupy the property. He also alleged that the accused stole Rs 1.50 lakh in cash and 25 gm gold jewellery from the house.

The division number 2 SHO,Inspector Gurpreet Singh,said the police had launched a manhunt for the accused.
