The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has installed fluorescent speed-breakers near intersections where three roads meet. Municipal Commissioner A K Sinha told Newsline: These will be installed at different places in the city to manage the continuous inflow of traffic.
To start with,two speed-breakers were installed near the Zone-D office on Tuesday. H S Salaiya of the civic body said: Till now,we have installed two speed breakers,but we plan to instal about 6 more in this area. It is because there are many public places like schools,temples and gurdwaras. So,the inflow of traffic near these places remain high throughout. These speed-breakers are being installed after a joint survey of MC Traffic police.
He added: We started this project on trial basis from Zone-D office area; if we find it successful,we will implement the same in other areas,wherever there is a requirement to control traffic.
The administration has taken a good step, said a commuter.
