The flower show of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation ended at Rose Garden on Sunday with 2,261 entries being received in total in various competitions.
On the second day,various events such as cut flower show,baby show,rangoli competition and painting competition were held.
A 1,260-foot rangoli made by city resident Aanchal stole the show and won the first prize in rangoli. She made rangoli in a circular shape using fresh flowers and colours.
Surinder Kumar,landscaping officer,said,We received 2,261 entries in all,on the first and second day. In cut flower category,residents and flower lovers presented beautiful creations and bouquets using roses,gladiolus,dahlia,gerbera and others.
Kumar added that a young girl,Sukhi Sidhu,bagged the maximum prizes in cut flower show in various categories. People from all age groups participated in the cut flower show.
In the category of government institutions,the maximum prizes were bagged by Verka Milk plant,Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum and Techno Care Nursery. In schools and private institutions category,Delhi Public School,Kundan Vidya Mandir,Guru Nanak Public School and GHG College of Education,Sidhwan,bagged prizes in potted flowers category.
Sumit Jarangal,zonal commissioner-cum-horticulture head,said the flower show was a complete success and will be a regular endeavour of LMC in future.
Meanwhile,a photography contest and flower show were organised by the Sarabha Nagar Gurdwara Committee in which various residents,schools and institutions participated.
