Inter-district checking

On the directions of DGP Sumedh Saini,inter-district nakas were put up from 2 pm to 10 pm. About 60 nakas were within the city,11 on the outer parts and eight were inter-district. Police of Ludhiana rural,Khanna,Jalandhar rural and Sangrur also co-ordinated in this operation,said Police Commissioner Ishwar Singh. ADGP (law and order) S K Sharma had come to inspect the security arrangements.

Rs 6-lakh hawala money seized

Police on Tuesday seized Rs 6 lakh hawala money from a naka near MBD Mall. A Scorpio car was coming from Mullanpur and it was supposed to deliver this amount to someone in Ludhiana. Police have forwarded this matter to the Income Tax Department for further investigations. The driver,Rajbir Singh,said he was to deliver the money for getting a meagre commission.
