APEX Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a meeting with the police authorities on Tuesday night and apprised them of the law and order problems faced by the industry. SSP Sukchain Singh Gill and DIG S S Chauhan were the chief guests on the occasion at the meeting.
P D Sharma,president of the chamber,said the industry was plagued by theft of goods.
He said some residents were putting up gates in their colonies to have their own security arrangements,but they are not being encouraged by government agencies.
Such self-protective measures should be encouraged,he stressed.
They said police should have a special investigative wing to trace stolen industrial goods.
Strict action needs to be taken against the miscreants who steal goods coming from dry ports,they urged.
