Hypertension can cause stones in kidney
Dayanand Medical College and Hospital today organised a free kidney stone detection and consultation camp on the hospital premises.
As many as 50 patients were examined during the camp and were also registered for lithotripsy procedure at concessional rates. Prof and Head of Urology,Dr Sandeep Sharma,said about one in six men and one in 15 women suffer from kidney stone disease.
Women are more likely to develop kidney stones if they have a history of high blood pressure,dont use adequate calcium supplements and their diets are deficient in magnesium-rich foods such as nuts (especially peanuts),seeds,beans,broccoli,and dark leafy greens.
Trials held to shortlist Mr India
Punjab Amateur Body Building Association conducted trials at Flex Bodyliners in the city on Sunday to select the body building team for Mr North India and Federation Cup. Mr North India competition will be held at Ludhiana on March 21 and The Federation Cup will be held in West Bengal on March 27.
Communist leader remembered
A large number of people attended the bhog ceremony of communist leader B S Amarmeet at Sarabha Nagar on Sunday who had expired recently at the age of 81. The leader was well-known for organising various trade unions of central employees of Northern Zone of India. He was one of the senior members of the party,contemporary to communist leader Harkishan Singh Surjeet.
Blood donation camp held
NGO Salaam Zindagi Foundation organised 23rd blood donation camp at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College on Sunday. Kuldeep Singh,Ludhiana Additional Deputy Commissioner,inaugurated the camp.
