The police got a major success after it busted a gang of car thieves and recovered nearly 15 cars. Addressing a press conference,SP City-1 Harsh Kumar Bansal and SP (D) Harinderjeet Singh said the gang had been busted by incharge CIA 2 Harpal Singh and SHO Division No 5 Jaswinder Singh Mangat who acting on a secret information arrested six people of the gang. Those caught include two residents of Moga namely Surmikh Singh and Paramjeet Singh while the remaining four Manjinder Singh,Parminder Singh,Amandeep Singh and Gurpreet Singh are the natives of Ludhiana. The cars recovered include SUVs like innova and Scorpio.

The head of the gang Rajdeep Singh as per the police is still absconding. An FIR against all accused has been lodged at Division number 5.

‘2,424 police recruitment forms sold’
LUDHIANA: In the ongoing sale of forms for recruitment in the police department,the Ludhiana police have sold almost 2,424 forms till date. In a press statement released here,Commissioner Ishwar Singh said that a special cell had been formed for this purpose and that the sale of the forms will continue till March 15. The form can be taken after paying Rs 100 and that no extra charge is being levied on the aspirants. The forms complete with all documents have to be submitted by March 15. The commissioner also warned the aspirants to stay away from middlemen or agents and in case any middle man approaches them,they can lodge a complaint at 98761 67900 and 98153-00403.

National fest held at GNIMT
Ludhiana: The Indian Society for Technical Education chapter of Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT),Model Town,Ludhiana,organised a fest which featured national level students’ competitions. The event was inaugurated by Dr (Col) H S Singha,director of the institute. Dr J S Sohal,Director Ludhiana College of Engineering & Technology was the chief guest.

OBC holds agriculture credit camp
Ludhiana: The Oriental Bank of commerce organised an agriculture credit camp at Jagraon. T Y Prabhu,Chairman and managing director of the bank distributed more than 700 loan approval letters aggregating Rs 64 crores to farmers and self-help groups.

State employees hold meeting at Mini Secretariat
Ludhiana: Punjab State Ministerial Services Union today held its state-level convention at Mini Secretariat under the presidentship of Darshan Singh Bajaj. Addressing the convention,Bajaj said,“We demand from the Chief Minister to issue letters regarding demands which he agreed upon in the meeting of October 21.”

The demands of include no condition of type test for clerks and implementation of computer course(120 hours),no condition of DPC for promotion of B-grade officers and to authorise the heads of the department for their promotion etc.

Blood donation camp held at DMCH
Ludhiana: The Management of Hotel Majestic Park Plaza organised a blood donation camp with the support of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital on the occasion of Women’s Day. 52 volunteers donated blood. Jaspal Singh Khangura (Chairman) and Arun Jaie (Area Director) were also present on the occasion.
