A Head Constable on Tuesday fled after the Vigilance Bureau officials caught him taking a bribe. Head Constable Mohammad Sadiq at Dehlon police station was caught taking a bribe when he demanded Rs 1 lakh from a resident of Sayiyan Kalan village,threatening to implicate him in a false case. When his government accommodation was raided,he was taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh and in his attempt to flee away,Rs 25,000 fell on the ground. The remaining amount he took away with him.
The Vigilance Bureau registered a case against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
A knife and drugs,including 1.200 gm poppy husk,37 bottles of illicit liquor,five litre country-made liquor,280 sedative pills,25 bottles of sedative cough syrup,were also found in his home. The Dehlon police registered another case against the accused under the Arms Act,the Excise Act and the NDPS Act.
