The Van Mandal of Ludhiana forest employees protested on Wednesday and work remained suspended at district forest office leading to inconvenience for the visitors.
Almost 50 employees from forest office of district Ludhiana are on protest against their superintendent Jagroop Singh. Mohan Singh, president of union said, “We are fed up with the foul language and misbehavior which is done with the employees by the superintendent. Before protesting, the matter was brought to notice of district forest officer and even forest minister who visited the city recently but no action was taken. Employees are now going to raise their voice and do not act like puppets in hands of superintendent who always ill treats us and hurls abuses regularly.”
Range officers also joined the protest and no work was done till till evening in forest office on Wednesday. The employees added that protest is indefinite and will continue will solution is not found for the problem.
“From Monday, the protest will be aggravated. We were peaceful today but slogans will be raised and roads will be jammed if we are not heard,” said the union head.
When contacted, district forest officer Dajit Singh Brar, said, “I was out of town for a meeting and am not aware of any protest. I will hear their grievances on Thursday.”
