Despite DC’s orders,city continues to dump waste in Field Ganj nallah

The leather industry in Prem Nagar continues to use the nallah as a dustbin to throw leather waste. A casual look by Newsline team from Gurdwara Dukhniwaran till Shagun Palace,it was choked at various points. The areas beneath the bridges have to be cleaned manually by workers.

A fight is on between the workers of operation and maintainence cell and sanitation department who are passing the buck to clean these areas. No authority has so far come to clean these points.

Sanjay Talwar,Congress councillor in whose ward this nallah falls,said,“It seems that the official machinery is not bothered about politicians. Despite the personal intervention by two leaders,still the nallah cleanliness is not being done. And strange enough the nallah file is also not being handed over to the leaders.”

Satpal Gosain,when asked about the status of the cleanliness drive,said he is not yet fully aware since he was not in the city and will be able to give deatils by tomorrow evening.

Hence,even the nallah closure project is in cold store because again expert advice needs to be taken from sewerage board.
