Deputy Speaker inspects Ganda Nallah work

Deputy Speaker Satpal Gosain, who contested Assembly elections from this area, inspected the work on the Ganda Nallah project on Tuesday. Though locals are vocal against the slow pace of work, which is also causing traffic problems in adjoining areas,Gosain expressed satisfaction over the work. “Work is going on at regular speed and shortly a children’s park will be inaugurated in the area,” he said. Gosain expressed ignorance about the traffic problems. The nallah, which is actually a rain drain, receives sewer water diverted from various colonies. While nothing has been done yet to stop the flow of dirty water into the drain, walls of the nallah are being constructed again. The drain will be covered later on. The project was inaugurated in November 2006,but work was stopped because of a “wrong design”. Finally,a design by IIT-Roorkee was chosen last year and work started.
