DCs fresh directive: schools to open today

Vi kas Garg,District Magistrate Ludhiana today issued fresh orders that all the government and private schools except primary schools of the district will open from January 7. According to the order,only primary schools will remain closes and this order will be implemented up to January 8 and will be applicable to all the government and private schools including CBSE and ICSE affiliated schools.

the Deputy Commissioners earlier directive of closure of schools till January 8 and its subsequent roll back by the Education Minister Dr Upinderjit Kaur created lot of confusion among government school teachers and students.

The ppal of a Government Senior Secondary School said,Although,we made an annoucement in the village gurudwara yesterday itself that schools will start from January 6,yet very few students turned up.

Many government schools also witnessed thin attendance today due to this confusion.

The school principals said,We spent the whole day in confusion as none of the officers from District Education Office answered our querry on phone. A government high school in the district,which received about 30% students was forced to close early due to cold weather. Meanwhile,it was observed that teachers also kept discussing about the confusion of school holidays and did not take much interst in teaching due to thin attendance.
