Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal inaugurated a single number Costumer Care Centre and Electricity Complaint Centre for the convenience of electricity consumers in Ludhiana on Sunday.
He said that such centres would also be opened in Jalandhar,Amritsar,Patiala,SAS Nagar and Bathinda,which would entail an expenditure of Rs 18 crore. Later,such facilities would also be provided to other 47 towns and cities of the state.
He said that with a view to improve power distribution system in the state,the idea was conceived to have such centers during the year 2007,when the present government came into being in Punjab, The complaints will be attended in a fixed time-frame,claimed the chairman of PSEB,H.S Brar.
It needs to be mentioned that a Jaipur-based company has been hired for setting up the software of this complaint centre. However the trial of this complaint centre was not much of a success because complaints were not being attended in a fixed time as per the claims.
Apart from this,PSEB has a pilot project for Ludhiana Ghar baithey bijli da connection pao,where persons interested in getting domestic or non-residential category connections only need to make a phone call and PSEBs representatives would come to them personally to receive applications,fee etc. Such connections would be issued within a weeks time,said Badal.
Badal again referred to the plans of four thermal plants in order to improve the power situation in the state even as he blamed the Congress for the existing power crisis in Punjab.
The Chairman,PSEB,said that at the Customer Care Centre and Electricity Complaint Centre,the facility would be available round-the-clock for the customers who could register their complaints with regard to release of new connections,extension in load,wrong meter reading and wrong electricity bills,replacement of defective/burnt meters,change of name etc .
Brar said that the costumers need to call landline no. 5055520 for costumer care support and 5055510 for no-supply complaint.

Power cuts justified
The chairman justified the power cuts in winter stating that they were getting less hydel share and even were returning power to HP,J-K etc states. Hence have to impose power cuts in order to fill the gap, he said.
