Change of land use put on hold

While all other points on the agenda were passed unanimously,the cases related to change of land use were put on hold. The Congress and the group led by SAD MLA Simarjit Singh Bains opposed the move and said “it should be passed only after all other areas in city are too declared open for commercial activities”. The items that were put on hold were change of land use from residential to mixed for Shingar cinema road and Kashmir Nagar road,stretch from Mintgumri Chowk to Model Town Triangular Park be declared open for commercial activities and declaring Hambran road (Rajprura road) open for commercial purposes.

Councillor Swarandeep Singh Chahal misbehaved with the mayor when the latter insisted on getting the agenda approved first. “Why are you not giving us time to speak? Wadda mayor bana firda hai,” shouted Chahal. The MC may suspend him for the next meetings,as per sources.
