LIT appoints four trustees

Ludhiana: The Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) appointed four trustees on Monday. These posts had been vacant for many months now. All four trustees are from BJP — councillors Sunita Phainta and Sarabjit Kaka and leaders Subash Bansal and Sunil Moudgil. SAD had appointed two trustees from the party,Gurinderjit Singh Pappu and Naresh Dhingaan,more than six months ago,but the BJP was not able to decide on the names.

3-day book fair at PAU from Feb 16

Ludhiana: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will organise a three-day book fair at Mohinder Singh Randhawa Library from February 16-18. Nearly 45 leading publishers and distributors from all over the country will participate in the fair. Dr Arvind Kumar,Deputy Director General (Education),ICAR,New Delhi,will inaugurate the fair while PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Manjit Singh Kang will be the guest of honour. PAU Librarian Dr J K Sangha said schools,colleges,librarians and other institutions involved in the educational activity could visit the fair to which entry would be free. The book fair will be open for the public from 9 a m to 6 pm.

Ludhiana: An exhibition of portraits,‘Faith’,by eminent artist Daniel Connell will be organised at Dr M S Randhawa Art Gallery,PAU,from February 3-9 by the Centre for Communication and International Linkages (CCIL),in association with TAC Art Gallery. PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Manjit Singh Kang will inaugurate the exhibition,while renowned Punjabi poet Dr Surjit Patar will be the guest of honour. ‘Faith’,by the Australian artist in collaboration with five Sikh students from Punjab currently studying in Australia,reflects a desire to establish a human connection and an empathy between the artist and the subject.

Escorts picks BTech students of CAET

Ludhiana: Two students of BTech (Agricultural Engineering) have secured jobs in Escorts Limited,Faridabad,through an on-campus placement drive. A panel from Escorts selected Rahul Ranjan and Prabhdeep Singh who will complete their degree in June 2011. Dean of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (CAET) Dr P P S Lubana said agricultural engineers were in good demand in top national and international companies.
