Block Samiti member belonging to SAD also switches sides
In a major development two prominent Akali leaders Gurdeep Kaur Kaka,a councilor,and Paramjit Singh Pamma,panch of Phulawal village and Block Samiti Member,today joined the Congress.
The duo said that they had left the SAD and joined the Congress as they were disillusioned with the Akali Dal and also they wanted Dr Manmohan Singh to be the Prime Minister of India once again.
They were welcomed into the party by the national spokesman and party candidate from Ludhiana,Manish Tewari,and Kila Raipur MLA Jassi Khangura. Besides,the District Congress Committee (DCC) president Jagmohan Sharma and former minister Milkiat Singh Dakha,former Mayor Nahar Singh Gill and Jagjivanpal Singh Gill were also present on the occasion.
They disclosed that the workers were ignored for a select few people who had monopolised the power.
Gurdeep Kaur said she felt bad when the Akalis opposed Dr Manmohan Singh in Parliament despite claiming themselves to be the watchdogs of the panthic interests. I do not want Dr Singh to be unseated as the Prime Minister,that is why I have joined the Congress,she said.
Paramjit Singh Pamma said there was lot of resentment and disillusionment among the grass-root workers who were feeling ignored and sidelined. He said the power had been vested with a select few and the real workers were not being cared about.
Even senior leaders are not being given the respect they deserve, he said,while adding there was going to be exodus from the party soon.
