Abducted youth rescued,two held

The Ludhiana police rescued a youth who was kidnapped from Civil Lines area last night. Two persons Rahul,a city Ludhiana and Karan,a resident of Jalandhar have been arrested. Addressing the media on Saturday,DCP Parmod Ban said,“Nikhil Kansal was travelling in a car with his friend Dishant Dawar when two accused stopped their car and bundled Nikhil and sped away. Sometime later,Nikhil’s father Mahesh Kansal received a call from Nikhil’s mobile phone and his abductors demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore which was to be paid in dollars.” The police were pressed into action and ACP Raj Kumar,SHO Division no. 8 Maninder Bedi and SI Harjinder Singh located a similar car from which some articles belonging to Nikhil were found. Bedi said,“We had information that the car in which Nikhil was kidnapped was seen in the area and with the help of an informer,we traced it to Jalandhar bypass. We rescued the boy from an apartment in the area.” The police,meanwhile,have learnt during interrogation that,“Kansal was a chance victim. Both Rahul and Karan used to frequent places like One Happy Bean in Sarabha Nagar and Mr Beans in Gurdev Nagar to identify sons of rich people. Nikhil was at One Happy Bean along with his friend and was driving back home when he was stopped by the accused who claimed to crime detectives. They later kidnapped Nikhil,” added Bedi. Rahul,as per the police,claims to be a student of engineering while Karan an immigration consultant and advisor.
