A 40-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his sister-in-law over a property dispute in Khanpur village on Thursday.
Parsan Singh,a carpenter,was unmarried and staying with his widowed sister-in-law Jaspal Kaur and her three children after his brothers death last year.
Police said the two were embroiled in a property dispute for some time. Late on Wednesday evening,after Singh returned home in an inebriated condition,the two argued again. Kaur then allegedly hit Singh with a heavy object on the head in a fit of rage.
Sadar Station House Officer Mandeep Singh said: Initially,Kaur feigned ignorance about the incident. She told us that some unidentified men barged into their house in the night and killed Singh. On thorough probe,she confessed to having killed Singh.
The accused has been booked under Section 302 on the basis of the complaint lodged by Sukhdev Singh,second brother of the deceased.
