According to one of the eyewitnesses,Arjun Yadav, who was also sleeping on the roof, two gunshots were heard, following which other labourers woke up to find Prasad lying in a pool of blood. He said he saw the accused running after shooting Prasad. “When we heard the shots,we woke up and were shocked to see Prasad bleeding profusely, but in a hurry we were not able to nab the accused. We saw his shadow ,as he ran down the stairs.”

Police are suspecting an old enmity of the labourer. Prasad, who hailed from Bihar, worked at Vikas Forging on Gill Road.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (city 2) Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said,”It was dark,so none of the other labourers were able to identify the accused and he escaped after firing.
