3 kids die after ‘eating chicken’

In what is being seen as an incident of suspected food poisoning,three children died here yesterday after eating chicken at home on Friday night.

In what is being seen as an incident of suspected food poisoning,three children died here yesterday after eating chicken at home on Friday night. Surprisingly,the family did not lodge any police complaint and buried the children yesterday.

For want of any medical investigation into the deaths of the children,as the family had buried the children soon after they died,the exact cause of the death of the the three — Sooraj (3) and Deepak (4) and eldest daughter Soni (5) — could not be ascertained.

Narrating the incident,Vidyanand Mandal,a migrant from Bihar who runs a small-time business of selling tea and paranthas on his rehri in the city,said his wife was admitted in the Raghunath Hospital where she was undergoing treatment for food poisoning.

“Five of us,including my wife and three children were taken ill after dinner on Friday night. But my two friends and one customer who had also tasted the chicken are doing well,” said Vidyanath.

He added: “I started vomiting soon after I had dinner with my two friends and one customer,but i ignored it.”

He said his wife also complained of the same symptoms early in the morning and both of them went to a doctor on Saturday morning. “My children’s health also turned bad and when I got back home,I found my youngest son lying dead. We tried to rush our two other children but they also breathed their last on the way to hospital,” he sobbed.

He added he had cooked bought the raw meat from a nearby shop. He said since he did not think there could be something wrong with the raw chicken,so he did not lodge any police complaint .
