After the recovery of an IED-laden car on January 25,the Ludhiana Rural police have recovered two SUVs,which the police claim were abandoned by their drivers at a police naka. This recovery was made during the intervening night of January 30 and 31.
SSP Ludhiana Rural Harinder Singh Chahal says,After the explosive-laden car was recovered from near the Halwara Air Force station,we stepped up our vigil. For nabbing the culprits,we have constituted some five police teams and also set up nakas. At one such naka at a bridge near Jagraon,the drivers of two SUVs one Innova and another Scorpio abandoned their vehicles and ran away.
The SSP added,These vehicles were coming from Ludhiana side and when the drivers saw the police standing on the bridge they escaped under the cover of darkness. On checking the vehicles we found that these vehicles were stolen and an attempt had been made to erase their numbers. We are trying to trace the owners of these vehicles. The SSP also informed,We have questioned some four dozen people in this connection.
De-addiction drive
Under the drug de addiction drive initiated by the Ludhiana Rural Police,the SSP,H S Chahal informed,We have started a de-addiction camp at the Mata Kaushalya Devi charitable hospital. Representatives from the Art of Living organisation are holding this camp,which began on January 26. 215 people have registered themselves for the camp on their accord.
