Yogi Adityanath warns of public shaming for those defaming Kanwar Yatra, urges kanwariyas not to take law into their own hands
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said the government has CCTV footage of those creating ruckus during the Kanwar Yatra.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday warned against “defaming” kanwariyas and Kanwar Yatra, saying his government would take strict action and publicly name and shame those caught creating ruckus during the Yatra.
Speaking at an event near Dulhera Chowki in Meerut, where he showered flowers on kanwariyas, the chief minister urged the pilgrims to show restraint and not take the law into their hands. This comes a day after seven kanwariyas were booked for assaulting a CRPF personnel at a railway station in Mirzapur. On Sunday, police arrested three of them.
“If anyone takes the route of ruckus to defame the Kanwar Yatra, then we have CCTV footage of all of them. After the Kanwar Yatra is over, their posters would be displayed,” the chief minister told the gathering.
“We have to keep in mind that where there is enthusiasm and excitement. Where there is faith and devotion, some elements are constantly trying to disturb that enthusiasm and to defame this devotion and faith… Unmask them, keep them away from you at all costs. Do not allow them to enter your circle. …instead of taking the law into your hands, you should approach the administration,” Adityanath added.
“Sayiyam banana chahiye.. Hum Kanwar Yatra jo leja rahe hain..Hum dusaron ki bhi pareshaniyon ko samjhen (Show restraint… We need to understand the problem of others),” he added.
Warning of attempts to defame Kanwar Yatra — both on the ground as well as on social media — the CM told Kanwar associations to take the responsibility and identify such people.
“It is the responsibility of Kanwar associations as well to expose such people, who are trying to create ruckus to bring a bad name to the Yatra. Unmask them, keep them away from you at all costs. Do not allow them to be part of your group and immediately inform the administration about them,” the CM said.
Three held for assault on CRPF jawan
Three kanwariyas were arrested for allegedly assaulting a CRPF jawan following an argument over train tickets at the Mirzapur railway station here, an official said on Sunday.
The GRP had registered a case against the kanwariyas under sections 115(2), 352 of the BNS and the Railway Act respectively.
Later, the kanwariyas were released on bail, the GRP said.
