Will go it alone in 2014: Maya

She said the BJP first needs to free itself from “the internal conflict” among its leaders L K Advani,Rajnath Singh and Modi.

BSP chief Mayawati Saturday said her party will contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections alone in the country “without any alliance or understanding with any other party”.

Talking to reporters at BSP state headquarters in Lucknow, she said talks of the party’s internal or outside alliance with either Congress or the BJP are “complete rumours”.

“The are baseless and talks in air, which are spread by our opponents and selfish elements to mislead people and damage the BSP,” she said.

She said her party was giving outside support to the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre only to prevent “communal forces” from coming to power.

Mayawati also declined to comment on the possibility of a Third Front, saying she had never spoken about it and that the question should be posed to those,in an apparent reference to the Samajwadi Party — who are discussing it.

She said an atmosphere is being created in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections as if there were no other parties in the country except the Congress and BJP. “While the truth is that none of the two parties are the first choices of the people.”

On BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s claim that Congress,SP and BSP are working together, she said these are “senseless talks”.

“The SP was in power in UP when BSP founder Kanshi Ram died and it did not declare even one day’s state mourning. Similarly,Congress which was in power at the Centre then, did not do so either. How can we have an understanding with those who don’t have any respect for the founder of our party?” asked the former UP chief minister.

Targeting Modi’s recent rallies in UP,she said “the BJP leaders who are holding rallies by gathering crowd of ticket-seekers”,and talking about solving all the problems of the country did not do it when they were in power at centre for six years”.

She said the BJP first needs to free itself from “the internal conflict” among its leaders L K Advani,Rajnath Singh and Modi.

She reiterated her demand of imposition of President’s rule in UP “because of the deteriorated law and order situation and disturbance of communal harmony under the SP government”. Mayawati claimed there is fear of further disturbance of communal harmony in UP,as the SP and BJP will try to spread “communal poison” for political benefits.

Replying to a question on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s statement that she had not allowed the Dalit leadership to develop,Mayawati said,“Who has stopped him (Rahul) from developing leadership among Dalits. He can develop thousands of Dalit leaders in his party.”

Will wait for probe: Maya on mp Dhananjay

On the arrest of BSP MP Dhananjay Singh along with his wife Jagriti in the death of their domestic help at his official residence in Delhi after alleged assault,BSP president Mayawati said her party will take action after seeing the outcome of police investigation. “Once we see what action the law takes against him,our party will also definitely take action against him,” she said.
