An undertrial of Budaun jail has been booked for two murders that he allegedly committed after slipping out of the district hospital where he was admitted. The undertrial is said to have left his cousin on the hospital bed for the two hours he was away. The murders had taken place on Diwali eve while the undertrials role came to light after his associates were arrested Friday night. Budaun Superintendent of police (SP) Dalvir Singh Yadav has suspended constables Satendra Rama and Bhagwan Singh who were on duty at the hospital on Diwali eve. He added a departmental inquiry is also under way to probe if the two constables were hand in glove with the undertrial . Yadav said it has found been that Satendra Rana had gone to his native place in Mathura during duty hours on the day the undertrial allegedly executed the murders. Circle Officer (CO),of Budaun city area,Satya Sen Yadav told The Sunday Express that they have sought details from district hospital about the illness for which the undertrial Naeem alias Raza was admitted. The Budaun police have arrested six associates of Naeem and have also seized a Tata Safari allegedly used by Naeem to leave and return to the hospital. The knives used in the crime and the blood-soaked clothes of the killers have also been recovered. The six accused were produced in court Saturday and sent to jail. Naeem,a history-sheeter,was admitted in a private ward of the hospital since October 12. He was sent back to jail on November 4 while the murders took place in the intervening night on November 2 and 3. An elderly brother-sister duo,Ram Gopal and Shanti,were found with their throats slit at their Khandsari house in the City Kotwali police station area November 3. The police recovered a wallet from the spot which had a voter identity card of one Akram of the same locality. The police questioned Akram who told the police that he had lost his wallet during a quarrel with Naeems relatives three months ago. The SP said Naeem,who also belongs to Khandsari,was caught in a dispute with Akram over money. Akram is learnt to have told the police that Naeem was eyeing the property of Ramgopal and Shanti as the duo had no heir. City Kotwali SHO Vijay Singh Sirohi said they found that Naeem was using a cellphone while in hospital. His phone call details revealed a group of persons being in regular touch with him the day murders took place. The call details also showed the cellphone to be in the same locality at the time the victims were killed. (MANISH SAHU)
