Two boys drowned in an under-construction swimming pool in the premises of Railways Officer Club in Gonda district on Friday. The deceased are Vijay (12) of Kushinagar district and Nanhke (11) of Bahraich district.
Calling the drowning of the duo an accident,City Kotwali Station House Officer S R Suman said no FIR has been lodged in the matter.
Speaking to The Indian Express,Sub-Inspector (S-I) A N Upadhyay said,The two boys entered the premises by scaling the boundary wall on the rear side of the building. While taking a bath in the pool,they slipped to the deep water zone and drowned.
Another boy,Rakesh (10),accompanying them apprised the Railway officials of the incident,following which a police team reached the spot and recovered the bodies,the S-I added. Upadhyay said the family members of the deceased arrived here in the evening after being intimated about the incident. They did not suspect any foul play behind the deaths and hence lodged no complaint in this regard,he added.
Northern Eastern Railways Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) A K Dadariya said: The premises was locked from outside and the boys scaled the wall to enter the place. The pool was filled with rainwater.
The ADRM added that no inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
