Three arrested for ‘honour killing’ in Farrukhabad

As per the details of the case,Kayamganj resident Sanjay Verma brutally murdered his sister Priya (21) and her husband Nageem Sheikh alias Gudda on January 26 as the woman’s family was not happy with her marriage with a Muslim.

Superintendent of Police,Farrukhabad,K Ejilearssane told The Indian Express: “It is a case of honour killing. The family members of the girl were annoyed with her for her marrying a Muslim boy and so they murdered them both.”

Ejilearssane said: “After hiding at different places in the district for a few days,Priya and Nageem got married in Farrukhabd district court on January 25 and informed their family members about their marriage which infuriated them.” Next day,Sanjay with the help of his brother-in-law Manoj,his domestic helper Umesh who also works as a driver,and his friends Gaurav and Titu killed his sister and her husband. Priya’s body was recovered near River Kali Nadi under district Kannauj on January 27,whereas Nageem’s body which was thrown in the river after his murder and is yet to be found. The revolver and the car used in the double murder have been recovered by Farrukhabad police.

“All the three arrested have confessed their involvement in the crime,and raids are being carried out in the search of the two persons absconding in the case,” said Station Officer,Kayamganj,V K Mishra.

On the charges of murder under section 302 of IPC,Kayamganj police of Farrukhabad has registered a case against Sanjay,Manoj,Umesh,Gaurav and Gupta.
