This year,Class X marks to carry higher weightage at IIM-Lucknow

“For this year,we have given more weightage to Class X marks because going by the past few years,students who have performed well in our postgraduate programs are those with good academic records at the school level,” said Himanshu Rai,chairman,Admissions Cell at IIM-L.

He added,“One learns a variety of subjects in Class X,which serves as a fair indicator of their aptitude level.”

IIM-L has also increased the weightage given to personal interviews by 5 per cent this year.

The weightage of CAT scores,however,remains the same as compared to last year’s 30 per cent.

Prof Himanshu reasoned: “During the personal interview,we also take into consideration the extra co-curricular activities of candidates. We have increased 5 per cent weightage given to it and,therefore,personal interviews will carry 25 per cent weightage this year.”

IIM-L would also accommodate the entire 27 per cent quota for OBC candidates this year. Consequently,the number of seats at IIM-L would be increased to 419 from the 375 in 2009.

Sources inform that the institute would come up with its list of candidates qualifying for group discussions and personal interviews on March 4.
