Around 6 pm,there was tension at the library gate when some students broke through the wooden barricading and set it afire. They were demanding that the candidates and some supporters be allowed at the counting centre. However,the university authorities were against it.
Police reached the spot as soon as the students set the barricading material afire. There were reports of stone pelting at the police too. However,the situation was soon brought under control,even as sloganeering continued.
The counting would be completed in the presence of Additional District Magistrate (City),SP (City) and three other City Magistrates.
