A Class XI student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalya in Kanpur committed suicide in the schools hostel room on Thursday morning.
Gaurav Singh (17) was found hanging from a ceiling fan after he had attended a physical training (PT) session.
In the suicide note recovered from his pocket,Gaurav urged his mother to forgive him for ending his life. Both Kanpur police and the school staff said Gaurav committed suicide for some family issues.
A resident of Fatehpur district,Gaurav had recently been shifted from Kaushambi to the of Kanpur branch of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
After attending the PT session,all the students went to their hostel rooms to change their clothes. But Gaurav remained in the hostel, said J S Chauhan,principal of the school. He was transferred to our institution barely a month ago. Therefore,the students and staff members dont have much information about him, added Chauhan.
Gauravs uncle Suresh Singh denied any differences within the family and claimed that there was no pressure on the minor. Gaurav had an excellent academic record and was the eldest of five brothers, he added. During the initial probe,we found that he used to have frequent telephonic conversations with a woman but the reason behind the suicide cannot be ascertained, said ASP (Crime) O P Singh.
