A stolen and two dismantled trucks along with a few bones were recovered from a factory owned by Mallik Vijay Kapoor in the Panki Industrial area on Tuesday morning. Chairman of Dada Nagar Cooperative Industrial Estate,Kapoor is the elder brother of Ajay Kapoor,Congress MLA from Govind Nagar.
The Panki police have arrested 11 people and registered a case of recovery of looted item under Section 411 and 414 of the IPC. The police, however, are yet to register a case against Kapoor.
I own the C-18,site number 1 factory in the Panki Industrial area. Around two months ago,I had given the factory on rent to Pravin Grover, claimed Kapoor. He added that Grover had approached him and requested for a place where he could keep his trucks.
When the police raided the factory,Grover was not present there. I caught hold of Grover at his residence and handed him over to the police. I was not aware that he was using my property to dismantle stolen trucks, he claimed. Kapoor also denied having any acquaintance with the 10 others who used to work for Grover arrested from his factory premises.
Kalyanpur Circle Officer Vipin Kumar Mishra said,During interrogation, the accused have admitted that the factory belonged to Kapoor and he had rented it to Grover. Though Kapoor claimed of having a rent agreement with Grover,he is yet to submit the document to the police. We have contacted UP State Industrial Development Corporation to trace the factory owner. If found guilty, his name will also be added in the case, Mishra said.
On July 9,a truck (UP78 BN 6397) owned by BJP leader and transporter Deep Awasthi was stolen from Sikandra area of Kanpur Dehat. Awasthi had registered a case of loot against unidentified miscreants. My friends told me that trucks were being dismantled in Kapoors factory. I forwarded the information to the Panki police, Awasthi said.
Police teams from Kanpur,Kanpur Dehat and SOG are jointly working on this case, said IG (Kanpur Range) G L Meena.
Regarding the recovery of bones, which also included a rib cage,Meena said: If required, the bones will be taken for a forensic test. Till late evening, the bones were left lying in the pit. Taking serious note of the issue,Meena later instructed the Panki police to collect the bones. Earlier,CO Mishra had said: Prima facie it appears that these bones were of a dog which fell in the pit and died.
Despite efforts,Congress MLA Ajay Kapoor was not available for comments.
