The states Department of Information and Technology will be initiating the e-district programme in all 72 districts in its bid to expand e-governance initiatives across the state.
While the state will shell out Rs 90 crore for the project,Rs 260 crore is expected from the Centre. The department is trying to create awareness among the stakeholders officials of departments where e-governance can be initiated,the MLAs and ministers said Chandra Prakash,the principal secretary,IT on Thursday.
The department had organised a three-day e-governance leadership meet for political and policy-level officials as under the national e-governance plan,which concluded on Thursday. Twelve legislators and six ministers including rural development minister Daddu Prasad,finance minister Lalji Verma,Health Minister Anant Mishra,Urban Development Minister Nakul Dubey and transport minister Ram Achal Rajbhar participated in the meet,along with officials from departments like social welfare,education,food,civil supplies and labour.
The department is already running the e-district pilot project in six districts Sitapur,Rae Bareli,Ghaziabad,Gautam Buddha Nagar,Sultanpur and Gorakhpur. Through this pilot project,we have tested all services and have been able to find the gaps too, Chandra Prakash said. We are now ready to take the project to the remaining 66 districts also and we are expecting money from the Centre within 15 days.
The department has already created 5,800 common service centres (CSC) against the required 17,000 for the state,with one CSC catering to six villages. So far,there are 22 public services like caste certificates,details of khasra and khatauni,domicile certificate,birth and death certificates and ration cards which are connected to e-district programme and so far,8 lakh certificates have been issued in 6 pilot project districts.
