The Samajwadi Party has called a meeting of its candidates on October 29,to discuss further strategy for intensifying the election campaign at ground level for the 2012 Assembly elections.
This is the partys first meeting with its candidates after the release of SP candidates list for around 380 constituencies (out of total 403 seats) for the coming elections.
The meeting will be presided over by the partys state president Akhilesh Yadav, while its national president Mulayam Singh Yadav will give the candidates directions for the coming elections. District/city presidents of the party will also be present at the meeting.
The meeting is important in view of Mulayam Singhs plan to undertake statewide tour by the end of November. Akhilesh, who is currently leading the partys Kranti Rath yatra across the state,is supposed to conclude his tour by the third week of November.
The main agenda of the meeting would include preparations for the Assembly elections, membership drive as well as progress in organisational work of the party. At its meeting with the party candidates, the SP leadership would give them tips about the potential issues that can counter both the BSP and Congress simultaneously.
On being contacted,SPs national general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Mohan Singh confirmed the partys plan to hold a meeting with its candidates on October 29. Singh said the party would review the progress in the organisational works at the ground level in the meeting. The candidates were asked to constitute booth committees in their respective constituencies. The meeting will mainly focus on the progress of these committees, Singh told The Sunday Express.
He also said that the party had already revived the districts and divisional level committees some six months ago. Sources in the party said that the party leadership had asked all the candidates to reshuffle and revise their respective booth committees as per their need.
While Singh maintained that there are very few tickets yet to be decided and the final candidates list may be finalised soon, insiders in the party said that there are chances of minor reshuffle in the existing list as well.
Singh further added that the party would also take a decision regarding the date of its core committee meeting. The core committee would give final shape to Mulayam Singhs tour programme. The date of the core committee meeting will also be decided on October 29. The core committee is likely to be held in the first week of November, he replied to a question. He added that at the core committee, the party leaders would discuss the partys manifesto for 2012 assembly elections.
The meeting is important in view of Congresss complete
focus on Uttar Pradesh in
November.
While Akhilesh is likely to cover all the state constituencies in his yatra,Mulayam will be visiting all the districts. Prominent leaders of the party will all be given separate divisions to handle and all the leaders are likely to move separately.
We are already ahead of all the other political parties in our campaign with Akhileshs Kranti Rath yatra and in November, after the election commission declares the date of elections, the party will be in a better position to crystallise strategies for second phase of campaigns, said Ambika Chaudhary, chief whip of the party in the state Assembly.
BSP,Cong did nothing for Muslims: Akhilesh
LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party state president Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that BSP and Congress are equally responsible for the poor condition of the Muslims. Yadav was addressing public gatherings in Bareilly and Badaun districts on Saturday. He is presently leading SPs Kranti Rath Yatra in the two districts in its fifth phase.
As per a press release by the party,Yadav said Chief Minister Mayawati was showing false sympathy for Muslims by writing letters for their reservation to the Central government. If she had real sympathy for Muslims, she would have brought a resolution in matter in the state assembly,he said.
Yadav further said that even the Congress has betrayed the Muslims and not implemented the recommendations of the Sachar Committee and the Rangnath Mishra Commission and assured the public that his party will implement them if it came to power.
He also alleged the Congress and BSP were hand-in-glove in the matters of corruption, price rise and unemployment. He said the in exchange of the support the Centre received from the BSP government,it ignored its misdeeds. The fifth phase of the SP yatra will conclude in Badaun on Sunday.
