SP fumes,Cong,BJP fuel the fire

The Samajwadi Party has decided to approach Uttar Pradesh Governor TV Rajeshwar and request him to stop the newly appointed Chief Information Commissioner Ranjeet Singh Pankaj from taking oath and order an inquiry into the matter.

We will not allow him to take the oath of office. We will seek an appointment with the Governor and request him to stop him from taking oath of office, said Shivpal Singh Yadav,the Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly who was a member of selection committee that vets the CICs appointment.

Yadav had boycotted the selection committee meeting after he was allegedly refused details relating to the candidates. I had demanded the bio-data of all the eligible candidates but the government had even refused to give out names before the selection committee meeting. Suspecting some foul play,we had given a memorandum to the Governor that we feared a tainted officer might be selected for the post, Yadav said.

The Congress and the BJP too opposed Pankajs appointment as the state CIC. It would be like a corrupt person being given the responsibility to check corruption. There are serious allegations against him and if these are true,we will not hesitate from demanding his immediate removal, said Subodh Srivastava,the chief spokesperson of UP Congress Committee.

Dilip Srivastava,assistant media coordinator for the state BJP,said,It seems the BSP and especially the chief minister enjoys the company of corrupt and tainted people. Pankaj,who has been accused in the safai karamchari scam,is the new addition to this list.
