The UP Government Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday claimed that four persons who had jumped off Jansadharan Express on Monday night and had said that they were thrown off the train by dacoits,were actually the robbers themselves,who had jumped off the train.
The GRP on Tuesday arrested six persons for allegedly robbing a passenger. An FIR was lodged against Kundan,Munna Shah,Ravi Kumar,Lalit,Dilshad alias Pattu and Rajendra all residents of Delhi.
SP Singh,Inspector General (Railways,Allahabad),said the GRP officials had found four injured persons near Etmadpur railway station after getting information that some passengers had been thrown off the train by robbers. He said the police took them to hospital for treatment as they claimed that they had been robbed and thrown off the train.
Later,when the train was stopped at Etawah railway station and GRP officials inquired about the robbery incident in the general coach,it was found that the four persons found near Etmadpur were actually the robbers who had jumped off the train after robbing a passenger.
He said the six robbers,who had boarded the train from Anand Vihar,had robbed Rs 15,000 from Mohammed Azad,a resident of Ara town in Bihar,on Monday night and also had a scuffle with him and other passengers. Later,the robbers ran from the bogie and four of them jumped off the train fearing they might get beaten up by passengers,said Singh.
He said while the four robbers were caught from the place where they had jumped off,two others were nabbed from Etawah railway station after the train was stopped there. The GRP also claimed to have recovered Rs 15,000 from the robbers and said that Azad had indentified the robbers.
