Shivpal suspends 31 PCF officials

A day after Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav carried out a surprise inspection of wheat purchase centre in Unnao detecting large-scale anomalies,Co-operative Minister Shivpal Yadav suspended 31 officials of PCF (Pradeshik Cooperative Federation) on Saturday for dereliction of duty in wheat purchase.

Shivpal was handed over the Co-operative portfolio by Akhilesh on Thursday.

At a review meeting of the department on Saturday,Shivpal reprimanded officials for their “callous” attitude towards wheat purchase. “ Every farmer should get the minimum support price. The wheat purchase centres should open at 7 am. Any laxity will be dealt with sternly,” he said during the meeting.

He suspended 31 officials of PCF for “poor performance” and “carelessness” in wheat purchase. All the officials and employees have been directed not to leave their district headquarters.

Shivpal also said the co-operative department has been deprived as its funds were siphoned by the previous BSP regime. “There are scams everywhere,even in co-operative department,financial embezzlement has been done in purchase of computers,” he said.

Shivpal directed the co-operative banks to tackle loans and advances judiciously. He also directed that working agency Pacsfed should improve the quality of construction.
