In the last Assembly elections,a few old timers had openly protested against the state leadership. They, however, maintained that all that is behind them now.

“We have been invited to the meeting and we will be there to present our views and contribute for the elections,’’ said Narendra Kumar Singh Gaur,a former MLA from Allahabad.

Gaur had slammed the state leadership last year when he was asked to make way for another candidate. The BJP,however, could not win even a single Assembly seat from Allahabad last year.

“The meeting is meant to galvanise former leaders, workers and activists,’’ said Ramapati Ram Tripathi, former state BJP chief and one of the coordinators of Shah’s visit.
