Seven youths held for ‘gangrape’

Medical examination of the victim, who belongs to the same community as the accused, has been conducted and the report is awaited.

Station House Officer, Pakwarha police station, Om Kar Singh said the victim has alleged that while returning home from the market, her neighbour friend stopped the motorcycle in which they were travelling at an isolated place. She said that the other six, all friends of her neighbour, were already present there.
The SHO added that the accused forcibly took her to a under-construction house and gangraped her.

The victim returned home and informed about the incident to her family members who visited the police station Sunday morning and lodged an FIR naming five accused, including her neighbour. The SHO said that the name of the other two accused came up during investigation.

The victim’s statement would be recorded before the magistrate on Monday, police said.
