Singarnagar boy to land on England pitch
Story of his fortune begins from scratch. “I exchanged 80 bottlecrowns for a scratchcard and it was the lucky one,” says undergraduate Gaurav Khetpal, resident of Singarnagar, who won Pepsico’s ‘First Ball ka Captain’ contest.
UP Head of the corporate Vikas Kaul handed him the boarding pass per se at Chancellor’s Club on Sunday.
Gaurav will have the privilege to throw the inaugural ball at the ICC World Twenty20.
“My family, particularly mom,was the happiest of all, when I hit the jackpot,” gushes Gaurav,first-year B Com student of Lucknow Christian College.
“I play, but only ‘gali’ cricket…yes,it would be great to meet my favourite stars and that too in England,” he says, not sure whether he is happier for the chance to share dressing room space with his idols or for the opportunity to fly to the United Kingdom.
He is the fifth winner from among the 16 who would get so lucky.
Gaurav is fielding ‘say-my-hello-to-Dhoni’ requests from friends and acquaintances and considering to look at higher education opportunities in UK for later.
“Otherwise,I have no specific plans except for taking over charge of our medicine retail business,” he says.
Any pills for cricket fever?
