Sandeep’s hat-trick in Andhra win

Forward R Sandeep Kumar scored four goals which included a hat-trick as his team— Andhra Pradesh defeated Rajasthan by 4-2 in their league match of the Balrampur Chini All India KD Singh ‘Babu’ Sub-Junior Hockey Tournament at Dhyanchand astro-turf stadium,Lucknow on Wednesday. Yash Pal found the target twice on behalf of Rajasthan.

Five more league matches were played on Wednesday. Helped by an all-important goal by M Khariitso,Nagaland beat Assam 1-0 while West Bengal beat Uttarakhand by 6-0. Avik Chakarborty (2 goals),Romario Routh (1 goal),Avoy Ekka (1 goal),Nadim Hussain Shaikh (1 goal) and Moloy Raha (1 goal) were the goal-getters on behalf of West Bengal.

Skipper Jagjit Singh netted 5 goals,Love Preet Singh struck 4 goals,Satish Kumar Verma scored 3 goals,J Singh and Varinder Singh scored 2 goals each while Shabbir struck apiece as Chandigarh defeated Rajasthan Academy by 17-0 in their day’s encounter.

A goal by Jitender through a penalty corner in the 46th minute helped Shahbad,Haryana in defeating Nagaland by 1-0. In the last match of the day,Cheema Academy beat Manipur 8-1. Pradeep Singh (3 goals),Sarbjeet Singh (2 goals),Sabhjodh Singh (2 goals) and Inder Singh (1 goal) were the goal-scorers on behalf of the victors. The consolation goal on behalf of Manipur was netted by M Bravari Singh.
