The Planning Commission approved an outlay of Rs 42,000 crore for the annual plan of 2010-11 of the state on Tuesday.
The plan panel accepted the demand of the state for hike in the outlay. For the last fiscal,the plan size of the annual plan was Rs 39,000 crore.
The annual plan outlay was approved by the Central plan panel after UP Chief Secretary Atul Gupta presented the case of the state before Planning Commission member B K Chaturvedi.
So far,annual plan outlays of 12 states have already been approved by the Planning Commission.
Against the outlay of Rs 39,000 crore for 2009-10,the state government has claimed that it has achieved the expenditure of Rs 37,161 crore,which is 95.3 per cent of the plan size.
Issues on the table
* The state government has reiterated its demand for the sanction of a special package for the development of the backward regions of Bundelkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
* The Centre has been asked to formulate a comprehensive development plan for the Naxal-affected districts for addressing the basic needs of the people of those districts.
* The chief secretary urged the Centre to takeover the two major
irrigation projects Saryu river project and Sharda Sahayak irrigation project.
* Centre should provide assistance for the execution of the Kanhar canal project in Mirzapur district.
* The state government urged the Centre to bear the expenditure for the implementation of the Right to Education Act.
* The chief secretary also suggested that all the 71 districts of the state should be covered under the National Horticulture Mission against the current 45 districts.
