A man who tried to rape a girl and was attacked by her relatives bled to death in Dariyabad area of Barabanki district on Sunday night as there was no doctor at the primary health centre.

Chief Medical officer (CMO) Dr Arun Kumar Chaudhary has sent a report to the Director General,Health, recommending disciplinary action against the two doctors who were absent from duty.

Superintendent of Police, Barabanki,Alok Singh said the accused,Bhullar Yadav (20),had attempted to rape a 16-year-old girl while she was going to the fields. Yadav also attacked the victim with a sickle when she resisted. The girl’s relatives and some locals, meanwhile, arrived at the spot and thrashed Yadav. Her brother hit the accused with a spade, causing a fracture and a gash in his left hand. The police reached the spot and took him to the nearby health centre where a ward boy gave him the necessary first aid. The ward boy insisted that the doctors would arrive soon. “He did not let the police take the patient elsewhere and Yadav bled to death,” said the SP.

Singh filed a complaint with District Magistrate Vikas Gothalwal. The DM said he had asked the CMO to send a recommendation for the suspension of the doctors.
