Rape accused arrested for shooting at survivor’s uncle

The accused, Mohammad Naeem, had come out of jail on bail in the rape case two months ago. He was arrested from near his house.

ONE PERSON was arrested on Saturday for allegedly shooting at the uncle of the woman he had been accused of raping, in Sindhauili area of Shahjahanpur.

The accused, Mohammad Naeem, had come out of jail on bail in the rape case two months ago. He was arrested from near his house.

Police said the victim had suffered a gunshot injury in his right hand.

Sindhauili police Station House Officer Rajveer Singh said that on Thursday evening, while the victim was returning home, Naeem allegedly fired at him. “The complainant has said the firing was not related to the rape case… We have recovered the firearm used in the shooting…,” said Singh, adding that the accused will be produced before the court on Sunday.

“Naeem was arrested for the rape in July. Two months ago, he was released,” said Puwayan Circle Officer Mangal Singh.
