The prosecution today framed charges in a Rampur court against four of the seven accused arrested in connection with the attack on the CRPF camp on January 1,2008,in which seven personnel and a rickshaw puller were killed.
Charges could not be framed against the three other accused Sabauddin,Imran Shehzad and Mohammad Farooq. While Sabauddin of Bihar is facing conspiracy charges in the 26/11 terror attack case and is presently lodged in Mumbai jail,the two Pakistani nationals,Imran and Farooq,are lodged in Lucknow jail.
The additional district government counsel at Rampur,Sarwat Ali,said the charges were framed at the court of additional district sessions judge Shrikrishna Singh.
According to defence lawyer Mohammad Shoaib,the charges were framed under Sections 302,307,120 B,121 and 121-A of the IPC,16/18/23 of Unlawful Activities Act and the Explosives Act.
The four accused against whom the charges were framed on Saturday are Mohammad Sharif alias Suhail,Mohammad Kausar,Jang Bahadur alias Baba Khan and Gulab Khan.
Rajiv Sabbarwal,the UP ATS DIG,said,The charges framed against the accused are backed by concrete evidences based on forensic reports,which corroborated the conspiracy and the execution of the attack on the CRPF camp. The next hearing is on July 20.
