Two Armenian citizens who had placed an order with a Noida-based garment manufacturing unit were attacked near the district hospital here on Thursday,the police said on Friday.
According to the police,the three assailants also tried to snatch their bags but were thwarted by passersby. The trio was arrested.
The victims,Tania Yuratseven and Vardhen Karapatyam,have told police that they had earlier placed an order for garments with Indu Fashion Export,based in Sector-63 here. The total order was worth Rs 5 lakh,and the two had paid an initial amount of Rs 60,000,Sector-49 Station House Officer (SHO) R K Saini said.
But since the company allegedly kept delaying the delivery on some pretext,Yuratseven and Karapatyam,who arrived in Delhi 10 days ago,went to meet the firms owner,one Preetam,on Thursday. They were accompanied by a Delhi-based friend,Prem Kumar.
According to Kumar,they went to the Noida factory but the owner refused to return the token amount.
Returning to Delhi,as they reached the crossing of Sectors 34 and 51 near the district hospital,three persons attacked their car with a bat and broke the windowpane,the police said. The assailants also tried to snatch their bags but passersby heard their scream for help and nabbed the attackers,Kumar said.
The three were handed over to the police. They have been identified as Lalit,Anuraag and Swadesh; police have not disclosed more details.
According to an officer,the police later struck a compromise between the Armenian citizens and the Noida firm,making the latter pay back the token money.
